Apex Photo Academy was started about 8 years ago when the analog era, and film, was still ruling the photographic world. However, in just a few years Digital Photography made rapid strides and took over almost all genres of Photography from journalistic to commercial to even fine art.
Apex kept pace with the changes and adapted it's courses and curriculum regularly stay abreast of the swift and significant changes to make sure that our students were always imparted relevant knowledge and taught contemporary practices.
However, since the Academy's roots were laid in the analog era, serious effort is made to familiarize the students with film and the darkroom and, also through these, the history of Photography so that they understand the evolution of the craft and the art of the medium. For instance, recently the Academy brought Tikka Ram from Jaipur to Delhi so that he could do a 2-day workshop with his wooden camera that uses paper negatives! Each student got a chance to work with the camera and shoot and develop images independently with this ancient process so that it gave them a good idea of what Photography was like and how much it has changed as far as technique is concerned.
Having said this, every effort is made to ensure that the students at Apex are exposed to modern photographic technology and get to work with state of the art equipment in the studio and the field. Even our visiting faculty is chosen carefully so as to ensure the students are exposed to contemporary practices and genres like Fashion, Wedding, Still life, which are in, demand presently.
The Directors, Aditya Arya and Dinesh Khanna, who are highly respected Professional Photographers, make sure that Apex Academy is constantly evaluating and evolving its course to provide the best possible photographic education to our students so that they have a head start when they step out into the real world.
