Academy for Photographic Excellence [APEx].

From the days of being a mere hobby for the rich and famous, partly due to expensive technology and largely due to a complete absence of formal training schools, photography has traversed a long way. Though it is the result of a rather simple technology, the language of photography is quite complex. At the same time, it is highly specialised, having evolved over the last couple of centuries. Photography is recognised as ‘art' today with dedicated galleries and museums all over the world.

The advent of photography is India was within a few years of its formal birth in 1839. Over the last 160 years, India has produced a large body of photographic works of great artistic and historical value. However, the efforts have been mostly individualistic and when one talks of formal photographic education in India , it is still largely unavailable. Most of the institutes lack proper space and other infrastructure, professionally qualified personnel and a curriculum offering holistic courses dealing with all aspects of photography.

It is with a view to fulfil these lacunae to nurture the creative talents of a host of aspiring hopefuls who want to make still photography their profession and to inspire many others to take it up as a serious hobby, that Jindal Photo Ltd. took the initiative for establishing an institute of Photography.
